What is the OpCon Managed File Transfer agent?
The OpCon Managed File Transfer agent is an application that executes the tasks submitted by OpCon. It’s also responsible for storing the definitions for sites/endpoints and encryption keys and managing certificates.
What is the OpCon Managed File Transfer server?
The OpCon Managed File Transfer Server is a group of features that expand on the capabilities of the file transfer client—supporting the ability to host and manage FTP & SFTP servers, providing storage for orchestrating internal and external file transfers securely.
Specifically, the addition of the Managed File Transfer Server allows you to host and manage standalone servers dedicated to securing connections and files in transit and at rest. Servers can be leveraged as endpoints with OpCon Managed File Transfer jobs and/or to support file transfer workflows with your business partners to further drive orchestration with OpCon.
Server activities are monitored and published to OpCon, enabling users to filter and link specific activities for triggering one or more of OpCon's 50+ supported events.
Finally, the Managed File Transfer Server also provides granular user-level control, detailed audit logs, and encrypted folder sharing and includes ConfigSync, which allows for the propagation of configuration settings from a single main server to one or more dependent servers for clustering.
How is OpCon Managed File Transfer different from standard FTP?
Unlike a standalone FTP client or server, the OpCon Managed File Transfer solution is native to the OpCon platform. It provides a foundation for incorporating file transfer tasks into new or existing workflows, while also being able to take advantage of features already available with OpCon, including user management, reporting, and audit history.
What encryption technologies does OpCon Managed File Transfer support?
The solution supports both connection-level and file-level security.
At the connection level, SFTP, FTPS, or HTTPS can be leveraged to encrypt transmitted data. SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 are supported for the FTPS and HTTPS protocols. At the file level, the OpCon Managed File Transfer solution also supports the use of PGP and SSH keys to encrypt and decrypt individual files, as well as ZIP and CMS encryption methods. Each encryption method supports a large variety of ciphers, algorithms, and hash methods.

How can I start using OpCon Managed File Transfer in my existing OpCon environment?
Please contact your Customer Success Manager to get started. You’ll need to request a new license that will enable use of the OpCon Managed File Transfer agent. If you try to define and start a new machine with this agent in OpCon without a new license, you’ll receive a license violation that will affect OpCon core services and cause a disruption to the execution of your existing schedules and jobs.
