OpCon 18.3 is now available - see the new features here

SMA Technologies is proud to unveil the latest version of our business and IT automation platform, OpCon. This release, Version 18.3, features updates that enhance security, flexibility, and efficiency for your automated processes – and the enterprise at large. But that’s just the beginning. This is one of our most anticipated releases to date because we’re introducing two new OpCon add-ons that really take automation to the next level. There’s a lot to cover, so let’s dive in!

OpCon Ver­sion 18.3 – Enhance­ments to the automa­tion platform

The latest OpCon release enables users to tighten security, improve flexibility, and further streamline processes within their OpCon environment. Here’s what’s new:

Embedded scripts

• Security – Grant and revoke access to individual script objects

• Update job statuses from PERT view
• Progressive Discovery of Dependencies – Simplifies troubleshooting on complex dependency chains by allowing the user to zoom in on a specific point in the diagram and then incrementally expand where needed. This feature shows all Jobs currently using an OpCon Resource as well as all Jobs with a dependency on that Resource, providing the full picture of what could be blocking the selected Jobs.

PERT Operations View (Solution Manager)

• Update job statuses from PERT view
• Progressive Discovery of Dependencies – Simplifies troubleshooting on complex dependency chains by allowing the user to zoom in on a specific point in the diagram and then incrementally expand where needed. This feature shows all Jobs currently using an OpCon Resource as well as all Jobs with a dependency on that Resource, providing the full picture of what could be blocking the selected Jobs.

Events/Keywords

OpCon arms you with numerous Events and Keywords that greatly reduce manual coding when you’re setting up automation. We added one new Event and one new Keyword to further simplify the setup process.

• Add $NOTIFY:COMMAND event to grant access to the functionality of “Run Command” option in Notification Manager (introduced in 17.1)
• Add EARLIEST NONCOMPLETE keyword for schedule date selection, allowing the ability to select the first instance of a schedule that is in a Held, Waiting, or In Process status
• Restart individual child processes that are created by the parent SAP job

SAP Agent

• Restart individual child processes that are created by the parent SAP job

SQL Server 2017 support

• Certifies use of the latest major release of Microsoft SQL Server with OpCon

OpCon Deploy – A change management tool for OpCon (Brand new product!)

Deploy provides a change management process for your OpCon workflows, eliminating the risk of disrupting business operations when you make modifications across environments. This powerful new feature tracks changes and stores versioning for scripts and schedules in a central repository. If there’s a problem with a deployment, you can revert to a previous version and keep your business on track. You can push deployments without worry.

OpCon Vision (All-New upgrades available)

OpCon Vision provides an active dashboard for business processes and automatically ensures Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) stay on track. The dashboard gives you a quick view into the health of your business processes. When you think something looks wrong, drill down to lower levels of detail to learn more. The real power of Vision comes when you set up instructions for OpCon to automatically respond when SLA’s are not met. This means anyone in the business can receive notifications for any issues that affect their area of responsibility, and OpCon can run recovery processes to get the business back on track.
